It doesn’t matter where you come from, only where you want to go.

In order to get that dream job and then continue to succeed at that career takes good planning and establishment of personal goals, a professional and memorable resume, and a positive first impression including the appropriate attire and appearance. You must also be able to speak intelligently and appropriately to each potential client or interviewer.

George Bernard Shaw said, “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.” There are many things that you are able to learn that will improve your people skills, business skills, and overall success in life and business if you are willing to take your career to the next level and work hard to achieve your dreams.

Efficiency

People often say that they like things to run like a well oiled machine. Sometimes it can be hard to know what that means. In school we are taught subjects like Math, Science, and English, but there are no classes titled Efficiency or Organization. If a person is not taught these skills in school or by a parent, we may be completely lost when it becomes time to start out in the workforce. Employers are looking for people who are honest, hard working, ethical, and intelligent, but to go even further in business, to succeed at a greater level, one needs to be able to understand the importance of efficiency. To do your job well is great, but to be able to think one step ahead, to accomplish several tasks in one fell swoop, to hand a paper to your boss at the same time they were coming to you to ask for it- that is efficiency, and that is what helps you climb the ladder of success in business.

Time Management

There are few things in this life that are as constant and definite as death and taxes, and time happens to be one of them. As much as we would all love to have more time, there are only 24 hours in a day. Period. There are however, ways to take control of your time, prioritize it, and use it wisely for the things that matter the most. If you’re thinking it’s not that easy, this person is crazy - you are totally understandable. Many people are afflicted with issues that are beyond their control in this situation. Maybe you suffer from ADD or ADHD and your sense of time is naturally skewed. Maybe you have taken on too large a work load and don’t know how to get back to where you were before you got off track. Maybe you were just never taught the skills that you need to succeed with your personality and style of thinking.

SOS works with several clients and business owners alike, who struggle with managing their time effectively. Jenn has access to many innovative systems and ideas that help creative thinkers understand why time is a struggle, so that they may begin to manage the situation and take control of their time related issues.
